Parental consent must be obtained before a student can participate in Classroom Mode. When activating Classroom Mode, a teacher can choose to either a) allow Artsonia to directly collect verifiable parental consent or b) obtain appropriate parent permission through what is commonly referred to as "school consent".
If a teacher elects to have Artsonia collect verifiable parental consent, any student that has not yet received consent will have his/her name grayed out from the list of names shown to the student (see image below). This ensures students do not gain access to the service until the parent gives consent. Once consent is received, the student name will be available to select.
If the teacher also elects to obtain appropriate permission via school consent, then the teacher can login to their teacher website and certify they have collected permission for individual students to use Classroom Mode or chosen to act as the agent of the parent and consented on their behalf. It will be the teacher's responsibility to ensure that only students for which he/she has received school consent are allowed to use Classroom Mode (see image below).
